Bushnells are good starters glasses that will not break the bank.

Make sure you buy a porro prism bino for that price range. If you see a binocular with parallel tubes, stay away from them, these are roof binos. Roof binos require more complex and expensive prism design, so in the lower price range, they usually give up quite a lot of optical quality to make the margin. Porros are simpler to make and at the lower price range will give you better glass.

Go to, they have good prices. Good people too.

    Choosing Binoculars for Beginners

Binocular sizes are indicated by two numbers, the magnification and the diameter of the objective lens in millimeters. All of the sizes listed here are good for general purpose use and can be used for any of these activities, but you’ll be happiest by matching the size to your primary interest. Ignore any models that claim to be “zoom” lenses…they’re more trouble than they’re worth, and you’ll probably have a harder time getting a good crisp focus with them.

    * On a tight budget: Nikon Action, less than $100. I don’t recommend you buy anything cheaper than this. The Nikon Action series has good optics in a sturdy package. My Nikon Action 7×50s saw me through my first four years of hawk watching and didn’t break the bank. The Nikon Action ATBs, a little more in price and better for more rugged use in wet or damp conditions, are also good.
    * Mid-range: There are two models I recommend here: Nikon Monarchs at about $300, or Eagle Optics Rangers at about $320. My current binoculars are Eagle Optics 8×42s, and I love them. I broke the eye cups on mine after a couple of years of hard, almost daily use, but the fine folks at Eagle Optics recently repaired them, for no charge, and sent them back to me in a jiffy.
    * Shoot the moon: If money is no object, don’t mess around — get yourself a pair of Swarovski EL or SLC binoculars. They’ll cost you a couple grand or more, but you’ll have people like me drooling over your optics (okay, we’ll try not to drool on them!), and your views will be outstanding.

£10-£20 will not get you a good pair of bins. I suggest you have a look on fleabay. Cheers.
