Should I report a Xantus’s hummingbird seen in Northern California?

    I would still report it. This way they can keep an eye out for it. You should keep a camera ready and see if you see it again and get the pic. It might come back if it liked the area. But let them know they my already know but need to know what other area’s it is showing up in.

    REPORT IT so what if your not an expert ive never herd of the x somting or other my uncle works with birds thats how he got is job

    Yes, report it if you wish. The environment needs people like you being on the ball and seeing stuff that would get missed. It’s a good idea.

    the wild life social that the government pays for studies/ also with every thing that has gone on in calf the migration of this animal may be expanding do to people cities fires drought most anything / most of the humming birds migrate to Brazil central America this time of the year

    That would be a rare find if it was in fact a Xantus’s Hummingbird. Contact your local Audobon Society Chapter or your local rare bird alert hotline. If you make a report you may end up having lots of birdwatchers show up trying to confirm the birds species.
