i’m a beginner in astronomy but have been star gazing(naked eyes of course)for some time now. i would like to move on and buy a bino telescope but dont know which is good. my requirement is to see the moon surface(craters etc) and simply bring the stars closer, be able to see saturn’s ring. i dont know if it’s possible to do so with a bino telescope(i know i’m not ready for real telescope yet). i learnt that for example i have to choose a BaK4 lens…is that true? and the “15x 70″ thing, 15 stands for magnification and 70 stands for aperture, is bigger aperture and magnification better? what about zooming feature?

Whenever I look through a microscope I have trouble looking through both eye pieces at the same time ( we use binocular microscopes.) I wear contact lenses and have no problem seeing normally when not looking through a microscope. What do I do to resolve this? I am taking cellular biology, microbiology, and ecology so it is crucial that I can use the microscope effectively.

Yeah I will try the cross eyed technique. I’ll also ask one of my professors or T.A’s…
I also use one eye to see usually to close one eye.

I thought i was going to have something horrible like Strabismus or something but from what my sister can tell and my mom it appears im not cross eyed or anything…what could be doing this damnit! lol..thanks ppl..atleast i dont feel alone anymore…if anyone else has any ideas please let me know

i have informed the police who told me to keep a diary of what happens. the police told me they will speak to the boy and his mum and recommend he has behavioual classes.
at first i used to tell my son to come in as soon as the boy joined the group he was playing with. but one parent said “its my son who is getting punished by having to go in”. this horrid boy has also caused upset amongst other children but their parents are ignoring it.
i cant ignore it. the police have told me not to speak to the boys mum. they will. (its now been 3 weeks since first incident)
the boys dad is in hiding since he was shot.(dealing drugs)
rumour is the boy thinks his dad fell off a ladder at work and was injured. i feel angry enough to tell the boy the truth!. i can get newspaper articles to show him.
what would you do please.
the police have contacted the school liason officer. he is being disruptive at school also.
if i go out and check on my son this boy runs away home. ive shouted at him so often.

Its for a store in New York. From looking at the specs of a few of the telescopes, I saw that they are selling some of the same scopes that are at www.telescopes.com, but it is much cheaper at this store. Could this be because the quality of the scopes (lenses, mirrors, mounts) are lower, or is it just a bargain?

Preferably not a telescope with the dinky cardboard tubes overlapping each other (although I should probably build that first for experience..). I’m in a class that is enabling us to have an independent study, and I was wondering if an amateur like me could build a telescope (not from a kit) if I had the right mentor, instructions and materials. The project of the independent study is due in 3 months. Is this possible, and if so, what kind of telescope would it be?
Any tips/advice/helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!
